Designs in Gardening is a residential landscape design firm
serving Westchester County NY and the surrounding areas. We create distinctive,
personally resonant environments with design solutions that address the client’s
program while respecting the indigenous natural qualities of each site.
Our design concepts are informed by ecologically sound practices, a wealth of
horticultural expertise and a well-honed aesthetic rooted in the extraordinary
beauty and history of our area. Under our direction, projects are built with care by
seasoned professionals and craftsmen dedicated to providing the highest quality
product. Service, attention to detail and thriving landscapes that withstand the test
of time result in long term relationships with many of our clients.
Principal designer Margaret Sandwick founded the company in 2002. A lifelong
gardener and passionate horticulturalist, she combined those skills with design
experience she acquired as a senior creative executive during her nearly 20 years
in the television business. She is certified by the NY Botanical Garden in both
Landscape Design and Horticulture, and holds a BA from Trinity College in
Hartford, CT.
Associate Michele Langone holds a BS in Sustainable Landscape Horticulture from
the University of Vermont. She got her start working at both retail and wholesale
nurseries in her home state of Massachusetts. Since 2013, she has worked as a
landscape designer in Westchester County, NY.
